Day 01
Airport > Colombo

Drive : About 1 hour

Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport you will be able to go through the “Silk Route” through to the lounge where you will be able to complete arrival formalities at ease while partaking with some refreshments.  Your chauffeur guide will meet & greet you and take you on a short drive to your hotel in Colombo where you will check in, refresh and rest.

In the evening you will drive to Upali’s by Nawaloka, a restaurant famous for local cuisine and its vibrant flavours. Here you will be introduced to the Chef for a first hand cooking experience. After dinner, you will be driven back to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02
Colombo > Sigiriya

Walk with the Elephants

After breakfast check out and commence the journey to Sigiriya, where a culinary extravaganza awaits you. Stop en-route  at the Elephant Freedom Project where you get to experience an entire day full of activities beginning from welcome drinks and a talk on safety.

8.30 am Your activities will start mucking out the enclosure which is an optional activity followed by a walk with the elephants while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed Ceylon Tea.

11:45 am starts a cooking lesson where you get to have the foundation of the culinary arts of Ceylon. After lunch at the enclosure you will get to wash the elephants.

2:00 pm – 3:30 pm You can participate feedingfruit to the elephants.

Depending on availability of children the day ends with English lessons for less fortunate children from the nearby rural village, a voluntary service. Continue the journey to Sigiriya; arrive at Sigiriya just in time for dinner where you get to experience Pol Roti with Lunu Miris and Kiri Hodi. Overnight stay.

Day 03

Enjoy a relaxed sleep this morning. After a leisurely breakfast enjoy some time by the pool. By 11:45 am you will be guided by a head chef to prepare the famous Sri Lankan rice and curry. Do savor the moment with tasting whilst cooking and preserving the recipes to take home to add to your recipe books and share with friends and families. You will be given a brief understanding of vegetables and spices that can add flavor to Sri Lankan Cuisine. Lunch will be what you cooked today at the resort. In the evening visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, explore the architectural know how of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka and learn about the Kingdom of Sigiriya which was once the Kingdom of King Kashyapa. Visit Mirror Wall, The Lion Entrance to the Rock Fortress, Boulder Gardens, Water Gardens and the famous Sigiriya Frescoes. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the rock summit.

After a quick breakfast at the resort, check out and commence the journey to Trincomalee. By 5:00 am leave to the fish market of Trincomalee, one of the largest fish markets of Sri Lanka. Trincomalee fish market provides fresh fish for most regions of Sri Lanka including Colombo and the cultural triangle.  At the markets you will find jumbo prawn, tiger prawn, crabs, lobster and a variety ofl other sea food.  Restaurants in Colombo that serve  sashimi and sushi buy their seafood from Trincomalee.

Trincomalee gives a  vast range of sea food and plays a big role in injecting life into the seafood industry of Sri Lanka.

Later visit Koneswaram Kovil and Lover’s Leap of Trincomalee, two most famous and  iconic locations in Trincomalee.

Back at the hotel you get to cook some of the fish which you bought at the fish market for lunch.

Spending the evening relaxing on the beach or by the  pool. Overnight stay at Trincomalee.

Day 07

After breakfast at the hotel kick off an early start to commence the journey to Pasikudah. En-route stops at Seruwawila Temple; a lesser known hidden gem of Sri Lanka, built in 2nd century BC contains the sacred forehead bone of Lord Buddha. Next stop will be to try the  cool and soothing water from the king coconut. This water is full of electrolytes and is refreshing, rejuvenating & deliciously healthy.  Due to the tropical nature of the country with  the ample coastal space, king coconut trees grow freely without the use of pesticides. We can arrange a meeting with one of the experienced Tea Planters in the area for you to enjoy a cup of tea and chat about the world Tea Market!

  9. When visiting religious sites such as Polonnaruwa, Kandy Temple, your attire should cover up to ankle length and sleeveless tops/shirts/t-shirts will not be allowed. It is also advised to bring a pair of socks as you will be asked to remove slippers/shoes when entering sacred temples.
  10. You can always change currency at the airport and a local SIM card can be purchased at the airport of Sri Lanka.
